James Rae follows the success of his best-selling “Debussy Clarinet Album” with this selection of arrangements of piano music by Erik Satie. It draws from the well-known “Gymnopédies” and “Gnossiennes” as well as other hits such as “Jack in the Box” and “Sonatina Bureaucratique”. The clarinet part is of moderate difficulty and the frequent sparseness of Satie’s writing lends itself, for the most part, to an undemanding piano accompaniment. The end result is a book of ideal concert material for two students to tackle together.
