'Emotions,' the first anthology of poems and short stories from Mike reflects the many differing emotions that we all have whilst travelling on the journey of life. From great happiness to the depths of despair, via humour, anger, love, nostalgia, optimism, nonsense; even sex and countless other emotions, Mike wears his heart on his sleeve. This gives the reader a roller coaster of a ride that is presented in a way that we can all relate to. Many incidents are recalled in poetry and prose, from the micro of cats invading a garden and the loss of hair to the macro of war and murders of children. There are tales that reflect the sheer panic when a child goes missing for a short time, to a moral on the impact of boy racers. Even the fantasy stories and poems portray many commonplace events or stretch the imagination in ways that anyone could dream about. Mike's objective is to remove the pretentiousness prevalent in so much poetry and present an enjoyable read that reflects the extremes of everyday life, that you will keep picking up and reading anew. He hopes his objective has been realised.
