Edwards - One-Nil! is the no frills and honest account of his life by Keith Edwards, a man who made deliveries for a cheese factory in his native north east before earning a professional contract with top division Sheffield United in the 1970s. A prolific goal scorer, Edwards earned plaudits (and Golden Boot awards) for his tremendous ability to find the net which made him a fans favourite in two spells with the Blades, another two at Hull City as well as at Leeds United, Aberdeen, Huddersfield and Plymouth Argyle. His story reflects the humour - and sometimes bitterness - of the realities of the game behind the scenes in the 1970s and 80s before the explosion of media coverage and influx of money changed the landscape and character of English football for ever. Keith Edwards scored goals for fun and made headlines on the pitch but this book also reveals much more about his background and why it influenced him, his personal life including some hard hitting comments about some of the characters he has met, and his subsequent journey through divorce whilst finding his feet again after retirement.
Now a regular summariser for BBC Radio Sheffield he has told his story in his own inimitable way, pulling no punches but lacing his opinion with self deprecating humour and a nod to the way that both football and his life have changed.
