St. Augustine Preceptory No. 53 E.C. a Retrospect 1857-1910
1910. A history of the "St. Augustine" Preceptory of the Knights Templar Province of Bengal. Holding the record of the longest period of continuous working of any Preceptory in India, its history is, in reality, that of the Order of the Temple in all India. The various periods of prosperity and adversity recorded in the history of this Preceptory were due to causes which similarly affected the Order in general in this country, but whereas many Preceptories have in turn succumbed to the vicissitudes of fortune, "St. Augustine" is one of the hardy few who have successfully struggled with adversity and stubbornly maintained their existence to the present time when the sun of good fortune and prosperity shines on the Order in India.
