The folks like Ziggy the bartender, Wheathead, the Kipp brothers, Hillary the Mexican beauty, or Presidential Gene who visit the Brandy Station tavern are the colorful characters in the fictional series of vignettes about small-town life in the Midwest. The town of Delmar Center has several Last Man Clubs. The club members frequent the Brandy Station tavern where the collection of bottles for each club are on display. The club is created by 24 guys who each buy a bottle of their favorite liquor and label it with their name and birth date. As each member passes on, after the funeral the remaining members gather at the Brandy Station and open the deceased's bottle. They drink a toast and when the bottle is empty they add the date of death to the label. Each chapter is a short story of daily living and death or near death. PS: There is also a Last Woman Club!
