Dr Leo Springfield is a disillusioned Labour MP facing a world of trouble both personally and professionally. With his seat (and the government itself) under threat in a looming election, he faces the wrath of his own party and that of the media when 2 million pounds go missing from a charity of which he is a trustee. Springfield endeavours to track down a vanished co-trustee - a fellow MP - to recover the money and his quest takes him to Italy where matters do not turn out as anticipated. Along the way he must navigate between choleric Whips, a randy policewoman, a nosy journalist, a crooked property magnate, an eccentric Italian private eye and a sometimes wilful Golden retriever, Boothroyd. 'Missing Member' is a shrewd farce of politics, the media, sexual attraction, fraud and grievous bodily harm; and of those in and around the mother of Parliaments.
