Deakin was one of Britain's best-loved nature writers, and died in 2006, making this his last collection of writings. For the last 6 years of his life, he kept notebooks full of his thoughts, impressions, feelings and observations about the world around him, from the eco-systems around his farm to his travels when he was younger. His previous book "Wildwood" sold over 25,000 copies in hardback alone.
