The Glory of the Trenches an Interpretation
1917. Dawson's two war books The Glory of the Trenches and Carry On, have garnered many sympathetic and admiring readers. In The Glory of the Trenches his aim was to tell the truth about the men who were his comrades, in so far as it was given him to see it. The title was derived from what Dawson saw as a new recognition of the spiritual values of life by the men in the field.
