Glycoconjugates 2V [2 volumes] - Proceedings of the 8th International Symposium, Houston, Texas, September 8-13, 1985
This two volume set contains abstracts of papers presented at the Symposium. Biochemists and cell biologists contributed valuable information on glycoconjugates--complex carbohydrates. Discussion of such topics as glycoproteins, proteoglycans and glycolipids involve questions that touch on many areas of medical research. Central to these discussions are the ample indications that the carbohydrate portios of the structure of these molecules perform important biological roles. These include stabilization of protein conformation, specification of human blood types, control of the lifetime of glycoproteins in the circulatory system and control of glyco protein uptake by cells. Topic areas include Primary, Covalent Structure; Synthetic Chemistry of Complex Carbohydrates; Three Dimensional Conformation; Localization, Endocytosis, Receptor, Cell-Cell Recognition; Sub-Cellular Organization, Development; Tumor Antigens; Lectins, Glycolipids; Glycoconjugate Biosynthesis; Function and Metabolism of Proeoglycans; Immunology; and, Molecular Biology.
