It is 1954 and a young man is on trial for murder. He is Kabuo Miyamoto, one of the many Japanese Americans living on the island of San Piedro, off the coast of America. Is he responsible for the mysterious death of the fisherman, Carl Heine? Some islanders are happy to think so.
