From his Funhouse57 "studio" (actually a ramshackle basement filled with such flotsam as half-finished robots, old cigar boxes, and hard rubber toys), artist Dick Daniels creates oddball wooden signs for his own and others' amusement. Sprung from pop culture, snippets of conversation, and his active imagination, his mixed-media works are done on reclaimed wood, giving them a hip, retro, outsider art vibe. No matter how they're described, they're a big hit with exhibitors, collectors, and art show patrons.
