* During the Liberian civil war, armed boys entered their compound in Kakata, burnt their two houses, after taking all their belongings including Hugh amount of money, and killed her husband


* Amidst the chaos, such as, extortion, massacre, rape and abductions all of which took place during the war, Nyamah and her daughters, Bendu and Kemah left Kakata and settled in Monrovia where they practiced the Eight Rules of Becoming a Success or Eight Steps to Greatness.


* Despite being a market woman, Nyamah completed high school and entered university where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Economics. Her daughters abstained from sexually intercourse until they successfully completed high school. Bendu became a Lawyer and Kemah a medical doctor, specializing in obstetrics/gynecology.
