This novel is a sequel to 'A Twentieth Century Love Story.'
After Dana died, Armi and Satu moved in with Marius, and he resumed his love relationship with Armi. They had a child, but he died ten days after birth. Armi thought Dana cursed her, or the house was cursed, and that was why their child died. She left Marius, but allowed Satu to stay with him. Soon Armi fell under the influence of a religious sect, and under the spell of a young lesbian.
Marius took care of Satu who, apart from school, started learning figure skating, dancing, and singing, and won several prizes. Then she was declared a Tango Queen and later as Miss Finland.
Marius would have wanted to adopt Satu and thus leave her his fortune, but after Armi left him, he could not legally do it. Nevertheless, Satu became so deeply attached to Marius that she could not imagine her life without him. To solve her problem, Satu had something up her sleeve.
