Jonathan Edwards and the Origins of American Theology
Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) is widely considered to be America's greatest Christian thinker and his thought is regarded as central in shaping American religious and cultural life. His sermons and treatises heavily influenced American life and thought through to the end of the 19th century, in a movement known as "The New England Theology", otherwise simply known as "Edwardseanism". This four-volume collection of articles analyses the pervasive cultural presence of America's foremost theologian in shaping the intellectual horizon of American life.
