Sarah Jones, 16, attendee of The Grammar School, lives in a world where nothing makes sense: her unfaithful parents 'love' each other and yet are divorcing; her brother Tony - which is short for Andrew - is a dyslexic, accidentally sexually experimenting school drop-out in love with his fist. The school staff are something else: Dr Russ Matthews constantly injures himself and the school's reputation by his numerous accidents in the Chemistry lab. His side-kick Iain Miller, has a drug problem which isn't an addiction. The one person towering over them all is the headmaster and tyrant, Stuart Bates, who abuses his staff regularly. His abuse does not stretch to staff only, as Sarah finds herself caught up the trial of Bates vs. 13 counts of sexual assault. Sarah's life takes an extraordinary turn as she struggles to wonder whether, in this insane world, justice will prevail for a change.
