Starting in Ireland in 1848, an Ireland decimated by famine, Regan's Revenge is about an illiterate young Irishman, Michael Regan, and his struggle from poverty and ignorance to wealth and erudition. Hounded out of Ireland by sadistic wealthy landowner Black Douglas, he flees to Australia to make his fortune. Meanwhile his sweetheart, Eileen Brennan,to whom he has promised to marry, discovers to her dismay that she is pregnant with his child and, aware that her lover will be away for some years, is forced by her cruel father to marry a man she detests - a man who has sworn to kill Michael. After many long months in the Australian gold fields enduring terrible conditions Michael finally finds gold but disaster strikes; in a bar room braw in which his opponent is accidentally killed he is accused of murder by corrupt police and fearing injustice goes on the run.Helped by friends he returns to Ireland only to discover that Black Douglas has sworn to kill him. In a cocktail of love, hate and revenge the three meet in an explosive climax that has fatal consquences for all.
