Sepoys in the Trenches: The Indian Corps on the Western Front 1914-15
The two-division Indian Corps arrived in Europe just in time for the first battle of Ypres. Its dedicated regular soldiers found themselves in a land they had never seen, fighting an enemy about which they knew little, serving a cause that was not their own. Led by a few British officers, the regiments fought throughout the first 15 months of World War I on the Western Front, until they were transferred to Mesopotamia.
