This mixed methods approach to research looks at the driving questions that guide research from a complexity perspective, including: who, what, when, where, why and how.
Conducting Convincing Research: Multiple Pathways for Understanding Human Systems takes a complex systems perspective, and looks at data gathering strategies, and approaches to making sense of data. It then rounds out the perspective by encompassing: Indigenous approaches; feminist and other critical social sciences approaches; legal, historical and performance-based research; and action-based and team-based approaches to research.
Overall, there is a focus on: contextualising research and research questions; making and documenting reasoned choices; assembling and implementing data gathering strategies fit for purpose; telling the multi-layered stories; judging/critiquing research quality; and dealing with contrasting world views in research.
