Sarcoidosis is a systemic inflammatory granulomatous disease of unknown origin, with a wide variety of imaging features. The organs most commonly involved are the lungs, eyes, and skin. The characteristic histologic lesion, a non-caseating granuloma, has been described as affecting all organ systems. In this book, the authors present topical research in the study of the diagnosis, epidemiology and treatment options for sarcoidosis. Topics include recent advances in the immunogenetics of sarcoidosis; nodular sarcoidosis; pulmonary hypertension associated with sarcoidosis; nuclear medicine imaging in the diagnosis of cardiac sarcoidosis and an experimental model of sarcoidosis using Kveim tissue.
