This Congressional Research Service report on selected strategic issues of interest to Congress, while emphasizing energy policy issues, also contains chapters on issue areas which interrelate-transportation, communication, water, agriculture, etc. There are also a limited number of chapters focusing on issue areas of general interest to Congress-governmental and institutional, education, values and demographics, etc. The report is a major interdisciplinary effort on the part of the Congressional Research Service. It represents the work of five research divisions, eight senior specialists, thirty-eight other specialists and analysts, and the strong support of their two service divisions.
