Unchained - One Man's Perceptions of the Inequities of America's Prison System
The whole world is chained. Some people are chained by drugs; others are chained by desires. Some are chained by dreams of fame, greed, pride, money, or sex. Still, races, doctrines, creeds or class chain others. Some of us are chained mentally while others are chained physically. Thomas Collins was chained physically: the chains that bound him were his appetite for drugs, which led him on a downward spiral. He felt like an animal caught in a trap. In search of the peace, purpose and happiness he desired, Thomas sought them in all the wrong places; he thought that he could find happiness in women, in money, in casinos or even in exotic places or beaches. Maybe he thought that he could even find purpose in his accomplishments by designing and building bigger buildings and decks. Thomas sought his niche in life.
