The EC's Council Directive 1999/31/EC on the landfill of waste directs member states to treat and utilize landfill gas. The Nordic countries implemented the Directive during the period between 1999-2002. Energisystemer AS was commissioned by the PA-group (the working group for products and waste) within the Nordic Council of Ministers, to collect and analyze available information about landfill gas systems in the Nordic countries. The main conclusions and findings are presented in this report.
