An optional purchase in addition to the text is a valuable teacher 's resource book by noted ESL educators Elizabeth Coelho and Moira Wong. It provides tremendous support for students whose first language is not English, and all students who need help in developing academic language skills. The resource book is arranged in three parts: 1. The first part explains how to use the textbook, guiding the students' reading and helping them to develop effective reading skills for academic study. 2. The second part consists of lesson notes for each chapter of the text. These notes explain how to use the student material in conjunction with the content of the chapter. 3. The third section consists of student materials for use with each chapter: graphic organizers, cloze activities, vocabulary puzzles, group activities, structured writing tasks and independent writing assignments, simulation and role play activities, and more. These can be duplicated for classroom use.
