1922. This text incorporates two lectures delivered by Clodd to the Royal Institution on May 17 and 24, 1921. He discusses various aspects of the Occult and in dealing with Occultism science discharges its functions in explaining it. He states that history has many an example to show that delusions and errors do not perish by controversial warfare, but rather under the slow and scarcely perceptible operation of changes that are fatal to them. He concludes that we are as far as ever from any solution of the problems of the origin, nature and meaning of life. The mechanism of the brain as the organ of the mind is being gradually understood, but that knowledge is still in its infancy.
