The 20-year-old blues firebrand Christone "Kingfish" Ingram comes bursting out of Clarksdale, Mississippi with KINGFISH, a sensational debut produced by two-time Grammy winner Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, Joe Louis Walker, George Thorogood). KINGFISH showcases Ingram’s blistering, raw and inspired guitar playing, soulful, deep vocals and memorable songwriting.
Word has spread worldwide via YouTube videos with nearly six million combined viewers and social media, where he has over 81,000 Facebook followers. His mentor (and guest on the track Fresh Out) is Buddy Guy. He’s played at the White House in 2014, performed two songs in the Netflix series Luke Cage and has appeared on The Rachael Ray Show and The Steve Harvey Show.
KINGFISH reinvigorates the blues with Ingram’s infectious, youthful fire. In addition to Buddy Guy’s cameo, four-time Grammy winner Keb’ Mo’ is featured on a track and plays on five more, and Chicago blues harp master Billy Branch appears on one. Kingfish co-wrote eight of the album’s twelve tracks. “A lot of folks know me for my covers,” he says of his many YouTube videos, some with millions of views each. “That’s why it’s important for me to release original music." The songs range from autobiographical to humorous, and from white hot to slow and searing.
