Argentum Romanorum sive Barbarorum - Permanences et évolution des usages monétaires de l’argent du IVe au VIe siècle dans l’Occi
The proceedings of the 2nd « Rencontres internationales de numismatique » (Université Caen Normandie, 2017) collect together studies on silver coins from the 4th to the 6th centuries in the Western world. Despite its major role in the economy of Late Antiquity, precious metal coinage had not previously been the subject of a scholarly conference.
The thirteen contributions open new research avenues through the approaches of history, archaeology and archaeometry to the study of precious metal coinage, its uses, its circulation and its production at the end of the Roman Empire and in the Germanic kingdoms.
