Understanding neurobiological systems requires the application of methods from many different areas. Cellular Neurobiology brings together a large number of techniques which are useful in exploring the functions of molecules, and the resolution of neurobiological processes at the cellular level.

Chapters cover techniques from basic in vitro maintenance of cells, through preparation, perfusion and recording methods, to more advanced topics, such as the study of ionic activity by optical imaging, and the mathematical modelling of excitable membranes.
