St Francis of Assisi is one of the most lovable saints revered by, among others, Martin Luther King and Mohandas Gandhi. Accounts of his life are, however, shrouded in myth and legend. This book seeks to present the life and teaching of St Francis of Assisi in the form of an imaginary autobiography. At the same time, Carretto takes the liberty of having "Francis" address modern problems, of a world deeply committed to atheism, but on the brink of radical faith. The suggestion is that all people have some "Francis" in themselves if only they could get back in touch with it.
