‘Perfect From Now On’ was widely regarded as an indie rock masterpiece as well as Built to Spill's magnum opus. This is their third album and it’s much more melancholy and darker than their previous albums. With this album Built To Spill shattered almost every indie rock songwriting stereotype. Instead of the usual 3 minute verse-chorus formula they consistently branch out and extend songs and song structure. "Randy Described Eternity" is a mellow space jam that speaks about eternity with a great analogy to time and infinity. All really smart stuff. What makes this album so special is just how it masterfully pairs indie, emo, post-rock, and progressive elements into a singular sound. In summary, this album is an over 54 minute indie-rock experience.
