When Alison Greenall arrives in California to visit the father who walked out on the family when she was a baby, she isn't sure what to expect, but it certainly isn't the situation she discovers. Her father, an eminent molecular biologist, has just had his research lab broken into by a group of pro-life activists who disapprove of his use of stem cells. An experimental version of his radical new serum, which is intended to repair the effects of aging on the skin, is missing, possibly stolen. An unknown person is trying to buy it, a helpful government official is urging the police to upgrade their investigation, and a violent pro-life activist is hanging about her father's house claiming that he's been framed. Alison just wants to get to know her father, but how far can she trust him?
