"Healthy and well educated" represent the two most relevant themes in modern German discussion. This volume illuminates the educational and medical systems as well as their meaning and relevance for a modern society.Health and education ensure quality of life and are investments in the future. But they also require great resources, while creating new resources at the same time; and they are seemingly always subject to crises. Both areas interact with each other: Educated citizens eat a healthy diet and are less prone to illness. Without a good educational system there can be no health, and without a functioning health system education cannot be properly maintained for future generations. Education and society must play a broader role in political agendas, which makes an interdisciplinary network for furthering both necessary.
