1910. Frontispiece by Frances Rogers. Mary Cary follows the story of a young girl whose grandfather places her in an orphanage following the death of her parents. There she is mistreated, humiliated and beaten. Later, she learns that her grandfather is a well-known judge and that her father was a British aristocrat.
