The study of the changes which have occurred in the garb of mankind, and of the devices used to designate his leaders, from the days of the bow and arrow to those of the magazine rifle, should appeal to all persons interested in the history of the human race. It is the purpose of this work to treat of these changes in such a manner that it may, it is hoped, prove helpful to those who might wish to learn something regarding dress in the different periods of history, and various countries of the world.
