THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's new album is what many would have thought impossible. ‘Before the tragedy, nobody would have thought that this band would continue to exist without Trevor.’ ‘Servitude’ is Eschbach's debut as singer and lyricist of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER - and the first with Knight on guitar since 2015's “Abysmal”. After a period of deep mourning and soul-searching, Eschbach switched from guitar to vocals, putting aside his lifelong identity as a live guitarist in favour of the band's survival. Former member of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, Ryan Knight, returned to the band and took Eschbach's place on guitar. ‘We put everything we had into it and it felt right to make this album,’ he adds. "I'm proud of it and proud of the five of us. You can never please everyone, but I know this music will be a healing and positive force for those who embrace it!" The exciting result can be heard on ‘Aftermath’, the rousing lead single that sketches out a post-apocalyptic cannibal scenario. ‘We wanted this song to be heard first because it's one of the fastest songs on the album, if not the fastest,’ says Eschbach. "We wanted that very aggressive BLACK DAHLIA melodic death metal feel to come right at you. The guitars, bass and vocals for Servitude were recorded at Ellis' home studio in New Jersey. The drums were recorded by Mark Lewis in Nashville, Tennessee, where the album was also mixed. Servitude was mastered by Ted Jensen.
