The Timber Wolf of the Yukon
1925. The novel was adapted from Bishop's successful play, The Timber Wolf in which Dumon Batoche, an egotistical, daring French Canadian, who is too proud to show his love for his wife, who, in turn is in love with one of the mounted police. His cunning in evading the police, his bravery when trapped, and his thrilling exit made by leaping through a pane of glass just as he has given the impression that he is mortally wounded are interesting points of the story.
