Modern Indian Theatre brings together writings on the various forms and practices of dramatic activity witnessed in India since the late nineteenth century. The anthology addresses pertinent questions such as how drama influences social change, the response of drama to the emergence and domination of mass media, and how mediations of gender, class, and caste influence drama, its language, forms, and aesthetics.
