French TextIn the last century BC, the still independent Gaul was involved in the process of expanding the Roman power.In a more direct way, Gaul became a purely political issue between the triumvirs Pompey, Crassus and Caesar, when they got hold of an ending Republic. It was therefore a victim of issue that was foreign to Gaul when it entered the political strategy of Julius Caesar.
