The energy sector is going through an era of evolution that is profoundly impacting the sector's governance (i.e., unbundling) and the technology on which it relies (e.g., smart grids to name just one example). In addition, and perhaps even more importantly, the sector is also undergoing modifications at its core, with Europe increasingly shifting away from fossil/nuclear fuels towards renewables and with storage, energy efficiency and new grid management techniques on the horizon.



To ensure the developments in the sector are done in a stable and harmonious manner, the aforementioned changes must be implemented within a solid legislative framework. Legislators are struggling to keep up with the rapid pace of the progress made in the energy sector.
