The Swedish guitarist Mats Bergström releases a 4 CD box containing 78 tracks, 46 of which being new recordings while 32 tracks were selected from previous releases. CD 1 The Bach Brothers and 18th Century Stockholm During his lifetime Johann Sebastian Bach was practically unknown outside of Sachsen. But in Stockholm, there was one person, who knew him perhaps better than anyone else: his own brother Johann Jacob Bach! Aside from a sonata by the enigmatic Signor Bach (Johann Jacob?), works by Johan Helmich Roman, David Kellner and Carl Michael Bellman are heard here in new recordings, in addition to selected tracks from Sei Solo. CD 2 The Spanish Guitar Some of the most famous guitar pieces by Fernando Sor, Francisco Tárrega, Isaac Albeniz, Manuel de Falla and Federico Moreno Torroba are presented here in brand new recordings by Mats Bergström. Asturias, Recuerdos de la Alhambra and more. CD 3 Guitar Music of Our Time Modern classics by Sofia Gubaidulina and William Walton side by side with works by Steve Reich and Edda Magnason. A brand new recording of Stanley Myerss beloved Cavatina is among the pieces as well as Hudnära by the avant garde duo Ludd, in which sex toys are applied to the guitar. CD 4 Songs without words Several of the tracks of CD 4 feature Swedish icon Georg Riedel on double bass. Scandinavian, Brazilian and American songs without words. Benny Andersson, Monica Dominique, Ann Ronell and Jimmy Webb are among the composers presented here. The Swedish guitarist Mats Bergström (b. 1961) has recorded extensively for such labels as Polar Music, Proprius, Caprice and BIS. Previous releases on his own label include Electric Counterpoint, featuring the music of Steve Reich and Edda Magnason, and Sei Solo, his own guitar version of the three sonatas and three partitas for solo violin by Johann Sebastian Bach.
