Dulwich Picture Gallery was founded in 1811. Its importance today lies in its outstanding collection of 17th- and 18th-century paintings, and in the building, designed by Sir John Soane. This is the first fully illustrated catalogue of the entire collection of some 650 paintings, including Rembrandt's `Girl at a Window', Rubens's `Venus, Mars and Cupid', Poussin's `Triumph of David' and Murillo's `Flower Girl'.
