A New German Public Sector? - Reform, Adaption and Stability
The book seeks to provide an assessment of major developments in the German public sector over the last decade. It examines the impact of international administrative trends including privatization; the New Public Management; decentralization and Europeanization; and discusses the administrative consequences of unification. Earlier versions of the papers collected in this volume were presented at a workshop on "German public sector reform in the light of the British experience", at the European Institute, London School of Economics and Poitical Science. Papers collected in this volume include patterns of postwar administrative development in Germany; the regional districts in search of a new role; and privatizing the federal postal and telecommunications services.
