The Arkansas Repertory Theatre's Summer Musical Theatre Intensive (SMTI) is an audition-based, theatre-training program for artists ages 10-23. For two weeks, participants are immersed in a summer stock experience with professional directors, choreographers, musicians, and designers. In thirteen sweaty, but exhilarating days, they sing, dance, rehearse, and perform a fully realized musical revue for standing-room only crowds. Since its humble beginnings in 2005, SMTI's programming has grown at lightening speed, and more importantly, the SMTI family that we've created continues to grow stronger every day. The concepts that are applied in SMTI teaching methods are: discipline, consistency, respect, routine, courtesy, compassion and a healthy dose of humor.
