The Gurning Bay Mystery is fiction, a comedy crime story set in a small, traditional seaside resort in 1959. It is indeed a mystery with stunning twists and turns posing questions like Did Wilf Smith really try to commit suicide by eating a lot of beans and then zipping himself into a sleeping bag? If he didn't then there is a murderer loose in Gurning Bay, a typical small seaside town about to shut down for winter. Will DS Arthur Pounder get to the bottom of the mystery? Will his son, PC Elvis Pounder, break the record for rides on the pier's Big Wheel? Who will win the Landlady of the Year contest?
The real delight of Gurning Bay is the resort itself and its many fantastic characters like the new young reporter for the Gurning Times, the old chap with a wheezing laugh and a constant twinkle in his eye, the ex-military stalwart Lord Gurning and his long-suffering butler, Peevish. The adventures flow fast as do the laughs and at the end of the book you will not want to come home from Gurning Bay. Don't worry, you can always go back for another visit.
