The Fruit of the Spirit helps us to live a Christian life. Though there are nine different manifestations, they are a single thing, and are given as a single impartation of the Holy Spirit. The Fruit is given to all for their personal use and edification unlike the Gifts of the Spirit, which are given for the use and edification of the Church (1 Cor 14:12).

If we are born again, the Fruit of the Spirit is in us. Every Christian receives the Fruit as soon as he or she accepts Christ as their Lord and savior, and anyone who does not have the (Fruit of the) Spirit does not belong to Christ.
