He received his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering (Fanni) University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran in 1973 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1976. He is a Professor, and a member (as well as the founder- Director) of Center of Excellence for Control and Intelligent Processing (CIPCE), school of Electrical Engineering, University of Tehran, as well as a Researcher at the School of Cognitive Sciences (SCS), Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics (IPM), Tehran, Iran. He has served as the Director of Intelligent Systems Research Faculty, IPM (1993-1997) and Chairman of the ECE Department at the University of Tehran (1986-1988).
