This practical text is a brief introduction to teaching for grades K-12 (especially for students who are receiving emergency certification to teach as they are learning). It takes the approach that teaching practice is constructed by the individual, must be conceptually sound, and must consider the context and the learner. With its conversational tone, the book seeks to give research supported advice on teaching that makes it easily accessible to a broad range of readers. Unlike similar texts, it addresses many critical topics and novice-teacher questions in very few pages that make it easily accessible for readers to refer back to these parts of the book as they teach. It also encourages readers to enact well-defined notions of good practice and to address the needs of diverse learners.
