Computational Aspects of Nonlinear Structural Systems with Large Rigid Body Motion
Developments in the fields dealing with computational methods for the analysis of nonlinear structures experiencing large rigid body motion and with flexible multibody systems with nonlinear deformations are being used in commercial general-purpose software in both finite elements and multibody dynamics packages to provide powerful numerical tools for complex industrial applications. However, major findings in each of the two communities are slow to reach one another, thus preventing the scientific progress that could be achieved. This book, the result of a NATO workshop, has brought together leading scientists to assess developments and results form the different schools of thought with a focus on the trends for future research.
