Many years ago, author-architect Luis Alonso (Alonso Balaguer y Arquitectos Asociados) discovered that a good way to spend his time in transit was to use the airsickness bags provided by airlines with a more rewarding and inspiring purpose than the one for which they were initially designed. From there came the recycling mentality: to draw or sketch on them and in bulk. They are an ideal size as the starting point for ideas, thoughts and sketches due to their dimensional restrictions. They compelled him to produce a clean summary of what he wanted to express, without wasting any space, clearly synthesizing and representing only the necessary, without fanfare or frills. A total of 72 'sickbag' projects are illustrated here, many of them completed, some still in the development phase and others dormant, awaiting their moment of opportunity. Welcome to a whole new use for these lovely bags! What a splendid design and just the right size!
