If these 7 Racing Rules can work for Alex and Paula in the extreme circumstances they have encountered, they can certainly work for the rest of us: How often do personal or department agendas get in the way of delivering "Best for Boat"? How much time is wasted in debating issues that are not part of our "Controllables" What plans do we have for our version of "Man Overboard"? Have we provided enough clarity of direction such that, if asked, all staff would identify the same ultimate goal "Two watches, one boat"? Are we close enough to our teams to ensure that, in times of stress, we will see attitudes come to the fore such as "Race not retire", "Choose your attitude" and "Pain is temporary"?
