In the twenty-fifth century, what used to becalled the Midwestern section of the UnitedStates of America, all the way from the Gulfof Mexico to Canada, has become desert. The remains of Midwest City, Oklahoma, now known as Haze Territory, is a barren redclay desert populated by only a few familycouncils. Fourteen-year-old Kyle Haze musthelp his family defend the area, just as hisancestors did over many previous generations.
Means of monetary exchange, transportation, community, and industry are long gone sincethe only active government is that of localcommunities. Fighting among area clans iscommon when survival is at stake and resourcesare scarce. Those remaining in the harshenvironment must migrate, mutate, adapt, or die. After the Chastain clan attacks hisfather, Kyle and his kin are driven from theonly home they've ever known. They setout to renew their lives up north, a landforeign to them, while attempting to keeptheir family intact.
Kyle must constantly lead them in and outof life-threatening circumstances, bringingout the best and worst of humanity in orderto survive another day in their primitiveworld and avenge the damage done to hisfamily by other clans.
